Report: Manchester United rejects Chelsea bid for Rooney

A person with knowledge of the situation said Manchester United has rejected a bid from Chelsea for striker Wayne Rooney.

United has previously said it would not sell Rooney.

The Daily Mail website first reported news of a 10 million pound bid plus midfielder Juan Mata or defender David Luiz for Rooney.

Rooney indicated before the end of last season to then-manager Alex Ferguson that he wanted to leave United after nine years, unhappy at losing his starting place up front.
